Video: World's Fastest Couch Hits 101 mph

Couch potatoes everywhere need to hold onto their remotes. A supercharged couch has just threatened the endless TV watching lives of people everywhere. On September 26, 2011, a couch was hooked up with a 1400cc motor and headed to Camden Airport in Sydney to meet up with a traffic-free runway. During its high speed shot down the runway, the powered-up couch reached an incredible top speed of 101 mph, achieving a world record.

So you see, you don’t need a Bugatti Veyron to kick ass and take names. All you need is a stationary object, a killer engine, and a little creativity to achieve an impressive record. Of course, we’d be more impressed if the speedy couch came with a television set. Hey, there’s a couch potato in all of us.

Hit the jump to see how they attached the motor to the couch to begin with.
