Training notes: Canadian homestand

AN IMPORTANT STRETCH

Just one point out of the MLS Cup Playoff picture, D.C. United's next three matches provide the club a prime opportunity to move up the table. United hosts Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps in back-to-back matches at RFK Stadium, beginning this Saturday with TFC's visit to Washington. The Canadian opponents have secured a combined nine points on the road in 2011, all from draws. The Black-And-Red will then travel to Chicago to face the Fire on August 18, a team with just two wins this season.

The Change-Up Roundtable: Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman Switch Bodies, Get Raunchy

A movie about two characters who switch bodies isn't exactly ground-breaking. It's been done many times before.

But two of the funniest men in Hollywood still jumped at the chance to star on The Change-Up and they explained why in a roundtable discussion this week: because the R rating opened up a world of dirty, fun possibilities.

The Change-Up Trailer

"It was fun to see this kind of premise - which is usually a PG premise - executed in such a hard way, in such an edge," Ryan Reynolds said. "It was no-holds barred. It was the first script I've read in a long time where I cried laughing."

The Change-Up comes out on Friday. You can check out the official trailer above and read the full roundtable transcript at Movie Fanatic!

Team order rule needs a re-think

Formula One should look at abolishing the controversial ban on team orders after Ferrari escaped further punishment for their manipulation of the German Grand Prix result. That is the view of the Daily Telegraph?s Tom Cary, who is of the opinion that the team orders rule now needs to be seriously looked at because of its obvious shortcomings.
?Whether you are for or against team orders, if the FIA could not back up its own rules and nail a competitor in a blatant case such as this the rule really does need reviewing. Perhaps Ferrari?s thinly-veiled threat to take the matter to the civil courts if they were punished too harshly scared the governing body, who as much as admitted the flimsiness of its rule."
Paul Weaver, reporting for the Guardian in Monza, was in favour of the ruling which keeps alive Ferrari?s slim chances in an enthralling championship.
?The World Motor Sport Council was right not to ruin a compelling Formula One season by taking away the 25 points Alonso collected in Germany. That would have put him out of the five-man title race. But the council was widely expected to increase the fine and possibly deduct points from the team, as opposed to the individual. In the end, it could be argued that common sense prevailed. But the decision will dismay those who were upset by the way Ferrari handled the situation as much as anything else.?
The Daily Mail's Jonathan McEvoy expressed outrage at the FIA tearing up its own rule book by allowing Ferrari to escape unpunished.
"Although the race stewards fined them £65,000 for giving team orders in July, the FIA World Motor Sport Council, to whom the matter was referred, decided not to impose any further punishment. It leaves the sport's rulers open to derision. It was, after all, their rule they undermined. In a statement, the WMSC said the regulation banning team orders 'should be reviewed'."

Sarah Jessica Parker Covers Marie Claire September 2011

Showing off her sexy style, Sarah Jessica Parker is featured on the cover of the September issue of Marie Claire magazine.

The ?Sex and the City? babe looks fabulous in the accompanying photo spread, and talks about her affinity for her craft.

"I love, love, love being an actor. It's still the hardest and scariest thing I do, outside of parenting. But I've always been someone who likes a busy day. I love the opportunities, and if I can manage my time and the children are okay and we're okay, it's hard to say no?"

SJP also mentioned that she and hubby Matthew Broderick try to keep things simple. ?We don't talk about our marriage a lot, which is probably wise. There are so many other things in our lives that take precedence over the splitting of the atom of our marriage."

1980 Yamaha YZR500 (Barry Sheene)

Hey guys, I started this kit a couple of months ago I have been a bit slow on this project due to work Super Angry , our beloved Festive Season and just generally gathering all my reference material and aftermarket bits for the bike. This bike has been a hard nut to crack when it comes to your reference material as there is not much around (unless you want to spend the moneyMy 2 Cents - i.e hard to find books). A little story about myself I usually work on auto mainly muscle,  I took this project on for the fact of the scale and the amount of detail you can go to plus always had a fascination of building a two wheel kit and let me tell you I have taken to this genre like you wouldn't believe (I'm addicted). It has gone that far that I am seriously considering becoming a Temporary Australian (figure of speech for a motorbike rider in Oz) and taking on a 1:1 version.

Enough babble from me Zzz here are some pics of my progress....

..

The Frame and Swing Art: alot of filling and sanding the mono shock is replicated off the kit version and reference photos, the shock is turned up out of ally stock and courtesy of my good mate Tim (70CudaTJ)

The Fuel Tank : As you know most bike kit fuel tanks come with only the topside of the tank here I have          scratch-built the bottom half due to the fact I want the tank removable for display purposes since this photo I have added the weldseams and painted the tank in a base coat. I will post update pics when I receive my new camera.

The Clutch pack and case dissected...

The Clutch: Case has had a protective guard add made from sheet ally, clutch packs made from styrene and reused retaining plate with holes drilled out ready for paint and photoetch.

The Clutch all together, I am happy how it has turned out Big Smile

Cylinder Head covers OTB..........

Cylinder Head Covers with my little touch......

Cylinder Heads and covers, just cutting all the bolt heads off and replacing with styrene hex.Zzz but affective.

Complete long motor with all the bolt heads done only work left on motor is to finish the magneto I am assuming they had one being an early gp bike which were push started off the gridConfused also the carbys, plumbing, paint and some photoetch.

So I hope you guys like my post, your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated too as I am open to ideas. As I have found out it can be a lonely old world in building scale bikes as around me there isn't a lot of interest in comparison to Auto...Cheers  Jas

Blog off?

The F1 circus has disappeared off to different corners of the world to get a bit of a break. The F1 factories are closing down and everyone is dusting off their buckets and spades and heading for the beaches. It is time for this blog to shut down as well. I’ll be back in action [...]
